Calculate the Range of a data set with this calculator!
Answer
Learn about Range
The range of a data set represents the difference between the highest and lowest values in the set. Finding the range is not particularly challenging, but it is a handy method to gauge how spread out a data set is. If the range is small then the data set is dense. If the range is large, then the data set may be spread out. This is not a guarantee: outliers may make the range seem larger than the spread of the data actually is.
Take the following data set.To find the range of the data set, first arrange the data by magnitude. The lowermost and uppermost points are the minimum and maximum, in this case 16 and 20, respectively. Subtracting the minimum from the maximum yields 4, which is the range.",
The data is already in order, so the first and last values are the maximum and minimum, respectively. Their difference, 11, is the range.First, arrange the data in order. The lowest and highest number are the minimum and maximum, in this case 1 and 2. The difference between the two is 1, which is the range.First, arrange the data in order. The lowest and highest numbers are the minimum and maximum, in this case 92 and 58. The difference between the two is 34, which is the range.
